2025 ROAD UPDATE

The summer of 2025 road work season is coming to end. We have finished up the pavement and seal coating on Saugstad Road. We put 3 inches of hot mix asphalt on the north section of Saugstad Road and double chip sealed the south end of Saugstad Road. Both sections were pulverized and relayed and gravel added to the entire section. The city of Westby also did their section of Saugstad Road from the lift station to Unseth Road/ W State Street. We have repaired the section of East Ridge Road where a culvert settled. Two inches of black top were milled off this section and it was repaved back in. We put up a 80ft x115ft sand and salt pad in our current lot to meet DNR specs for sand and salt storage. The pad is 4 inches thick hot mix asphalt. We replaced an old unused cattle pass on Unseth Rd near Select Sires. The concrete structure was deteriorating and needed to be replaced. We replaced it with a 72 inch by 60 foot long culvert and patched over top. We received a grant from Vernon County to replace the over head doors on the shop.

2025 GARBAGE UPDATE

In our regular September meeting, the Town Board decided to get dumpsters from Big Hook Trucking & Disposal LLC and retire our current garbage truck. Big Hook will supply the Township with four 8 yard dumpsters for household bagged garbage and one 20 yard roll off for large items (furniture, Ag Plastic, Construction Demo items, etc). The four 8 yard dumpsters will be for BAGGED HOUSEHOLD TRASH ONLY. If we follow those rules it will end up costing the Township less money than it has in the past with our current garbage truck. The garbage truck will go on the Wisconsin Surplus Auction in the near future. The dump hours will stay the same for now: Wednesday 4:30 pm- 7pm and Saturday 8am-4pm. In the future, we may look at reducing Saturday hours. Recycling will continue as normal.
